Burgess Presented with the 2024 Texas Hospital Advocacy Tribute Award

US Rep. Michael Burgess, M.D. (R-Lewisville) received the 2024 Texas Hospital Advocacy Tribute Award for his outstanding service to the hospital industry through efforts such as protecting funding for Medicaid Disproportionate Share hospitals, advocating for the renewal of Texas’ Medicaid 1115 waivers, addressing maternal health disparities and mortality by introducing bi-partisan legislation, among other efforts. Congressman Burgess has been steadfast voice for hospitals and a champion for health care policy.

The Texas Hospital Association’s Texas Hospital Advocacy Tribute (THAT) Award is an honor given to lawmakers who champion hospital priorities and work to advance positive change in the health care industry. Since 1997, the THAT award has recognized state and federal legislators who support public policy issues important to Texas hospitals and health systems and their ability to meet the health care needs of all Texans.
